The burden of typing the same data once again is reduced here and you save a considerable amount of time ultimately! Ink Equation:

We all know that excel supplies us a lot of mathematical equations for an easier manipulation of data. The Ink Equation option made available in excel 2016 goes a step further and makes us mathematicians by allowing to enter our own equations. Yes, just click on it and enter your own equation and from now you are ready to use it in your sheets. You may wonder that why do I need a special mathematical equation apart from what is already available? The answer is simple! Each one’s needs are different from that of others. I use an equation to find the perimeter and you may use it to find the diameter. Also, it is not necessary that you have to use the standard mathematical equations at all times. Depending on the situation, your need and the availability of data you can frame such equations.

To make it simpler, let me explain it in detail. You have the diameter of wheels available in your sheet. It is the diameter of the wheels you manufacture in your unit. You need to provide the area of each wheel before sending the data to further departments such as sales, etc. How would you generally calculate the area of a circle? It is by using the equation A =  r 2). So, to use the equation you need to half the diameter and should copy it in a column before supplying it to the above equation. Only then, you can use it here. Ultimately, it is two-step process and sometimes looks like a redundant job. With the Ink Equation option, you can now draft your own equation as A = (d/2)2.  So, you have simplified it and all set to use you’re the equation that has been drafted by you!

How to use Ink Equation of excel 2016? Steps involved:

Step-1: Under the Insert menu, click on the Equation tab.

Step-2: Go down the list and click on the Ink option.

Step-3: You are asked to type your equation. Just draft it, click insert and use it in all your excel sheets.

  • Waterfall

TreeMap: It enables a hierarchical view of data to identify similar and competing products. This chart helps in identifying complex facts in an easier graphical representation. For example, when we consider a book publishing company to identify their sale contribution from different groups of books, this chart does a great job!

Step-4: A hierarchical view of your data and the sub-classifications would be clearly depicted from top-to-bottom and left-to-right fashion

From the above chart, you can see that each sun-genre accounts to its parent genre by color and proximity. So, it’s an easier way to represent how much percentage that a sun-genre of a book category accounts to the shop’s sale and the owner can concentrate on selling such books more.

Sunburst: The purpose of the chart is similar to that of TreeMap but the hierarchy is arranged resembling the rays of the sun. The circular representation helps in comparing the data with a deeper analysis and the hierarchy is presented in multiple levels.

Within that, the Age 3-5 sells more and the book shop owner can go for more such books in his shop!

Histogram: It is a bar-like representation of data and is much helpful in managing your inventory. If you often run out of stock in your inventory, then it’s high time that you have used this chart.
